Featured Presentation

Hacking SQL Server for Fun and Profit

Speaker: Argenis Fernandez, Principal Program Manager Microsoft

Summary: Let's explore several methods of hacking into SQL Server instances. Some methods assume you have Windows Administrator privileges on the box; others only require access to your physical network. We will cover SQL injection, memory dumps, man-in-the-middle, pass-the-hash, and other attack vectors. Armed with this knowledge, you should be able to go back to your job and make a difference in your network security.

About Argenis: Argenis Fernandez is a Principal Program Manager with the Microsoft Databases Systems team based in Redmond, WA. He has worked with SQL Server since 1998 and enjoys working with large SQL Server farms, busy databases, performance troubleshooting, high availability, disaster recovery, best practices, and PowerShell scripting. Previously Argenis worked as a Principal Architect for Pure Storage, as a Lead Database Operations Engineer at SurveyMonkey, and Senior Consultant on SQL Server Core for Microsoft Consulting Services. In 2013 he founded the Security Virtual Chapter for the Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS) (http://security.sqlpass.org). He also handled the SQLSaturday portfolio for PASS as part of its Board of Directors

Call for Speakers

Peter Palka is trying to put together a 6 month calendar of speakers and topics. Peter would like to start having two presentations per meeting. One topic could be a short 15 minute presentation and then the other could be a 60-90 minute topic.

If you have done something you think is noteworthy that others could benefit from, Peter would like to hear from you. He is willing to help you turn any ideas you have into a presentation. OASSUG is a user group, provided and supported by local area SQL Server users.

Remember you don’t have to do a full-blown 90 minute presentation; even just a short presentation would be a great way to support our local SQL Server user group.
