How to Easily and Continuously Replicate Oracle® Data to SQL Server®

Speaker: Clay Jackson

Summary: In this talk, we’ll show you how to easily replicate changes from an Oracle database to SQL Server, maintaining real-time images of the source tables or subsets of tables for all your data analytics and archiving needs — whether on-premises, remote or in-the-cloud. By the end of this session, you’ll know how to: • Meet three core IT initiatives: scalability, availability and data integration with continuous replication. • Migrate Oracle data to SQL Server without downtime. • Deploy a live DW for BI, analysis and reporting. • Affordably archive historical data. • Track changes made to Oracle tables and post those changes to SQL Server for auditing purposes. • Consolidate all or subsets of Oracle data to a SQL Server data warehouse or data store for analytics, reporting and dashboarding. • Improve Oracle OLTP performance SLA’s by offloading reporting to other platforms, such as Hadoop, DB2 and ODBC enabled databases.

About Clay: Clay Jackson has been in the IT field since 1972; has a Masters in Software Engineering from Seattle University and is a CISM. Prior to joining Dell Software in 2012, he was a Database Administrator and DBA Manager for US West, Starbucks, Washington Mutual and Darigold; managing both SQLServer and Oracle databases. He has extensive experience managing heterogeneous database environments and making sure that decision makers have access to correct and complete data at all times.

Call for Speakers

Peter Palka is trying to put together a 6 month calendar of speakers and topics. Peter would like to start having two presentations per meeting. One topic could be a short 15 minute presentation and then the other could be a 60-90 minute topic.

If you have done something you think is noteworthy that others could benefit from, Peter would like to hear from you. He is willing to help you turn any ideas you have into a presentation. OASSUG is a user group, provided and supported by local area SQL Server users.

Remember you don’t have to do a full-blown 90 minute presentation; even just a short presentation would be a great way to support our local SQL Server user group.
